We are in a period which under Medicare guidelines is called OPEN ENROLLMENT PERIOD (OEP). This is for a one time changefor Medicare Advantage plans ONLY and happens from 1/1 until 3/31.
Unfortunately, this means that all those unethical and fraudulent phone calls may start happening again, like the ones many of you got during the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP, from 10/15 to 12/7). They may sound very pleasant, friendly; but, they don’t care about you and more importantly you do Not know them, so much “inconvenience” can result from these encounters, not the least of which can be switching your current Medicare plans.
Remember to call me first if you are simply curious or want to switch plans or move to another company. Even some of the insurance companies themselves have dipped into all kinds of sales tricks, conducted by salespeople under quota stresses and hired for just that specific reason, to ENROLL people. And remember, if you get ENROLLED by them and use up that ONE opportunity, you may not be able to enroll in another plan until next AEP (10/15-12/7/2025). You may not like it and a few months down the road if you run into problems, you may not find the folks who called and enrolled you. Enough said here, just please be careful and call me before calling anywhere else or talking with anyone else.
Some of the insurance companies have been notorious for these kinds of unethical habits while others are better at protecting your rights as well as your relationship with your agents. In fact, if anyone calls you from your own insurance company, do not assume that they are calling on my behalf, you can even tell them, “I have an agent, if you want, call and speak with her.”
I do not want to badmouth any company here and now; but some of you have already experienced and know exactly what I am talking about. Luckily, many of you have found your way back to blessing me as your agent, again. Please be careful and always consult with me; because I am always here for you, with your best intentions in my heart and mind.
Finally, if you or any of your friends and loved ones have a Medicare Advantage plan; but, have not had the chance to look into a variety of plans and compare them, call me as Now is your and their opportunity to do so 😉
